St Andrews Church, Greensted-Juxta-Ongar - Sunday 19th October 2014

St Andrews claims to be the oldest wooden Church in England. It is a perty little church worth a detour.
Taking the Chemlsford to Harlow (A414) Turn South at the Roundabout in Ongar and as you go through the village turn Right over the bridge and follow your nose for about a mile and the church comes up on your right, all sign posted with Brown Signs.

Small is Beautiful It reminds me in may ways of a Nodric church, which I suppose it is very similar too, as a Saxon church Built around the time of the Norman Conquest.

The Roof some carvings but I suspect the the Victorians had a hand in this roof and other interior features as they did in may churches across the country.
